Ben Pirani: How Do I Talk To My Brother?

"It'd be easy to mistake this release for yet another soul revival album made by a dude who wasn't there the first time around - but it'd be the listener's mistake to make. What kind of record is a man with a punk past going to make when he's been a mod, a rocker and a rare soul collector in between? One that draws on a familial history of activism, sacrifice and earnest hustling - the very same things we're all being called upon to conjure as a society in this present moment. This is a body of work that lets neither performer nor listener off the hook, yet still understands the need for care and cause in the spaces between. Consider it: A band of fighters meant for the clear-eyed lovers of the world. Ben Pirani is not fooling around, and neither are the working musicians who agreed to make this record with him." - Jocelyn Brown Colemine Records is proud to present the debut LP from Ben Pirani. A record that feels so very easy and familiar, but at the same time fresh and relevant. Like the hype sticker

Durand Jones & The Indications: Don’t You Know

The lead single from the sophomore LP from Durand Jones & The Indications has everything you could ask for. Dual lead vocals from Durand Jones and Aaron Frazer, danceable beat, and super sweet soul harmonies that won’t soon leave your ear or turntable. It’s familiar yet modern and it’s truly beautiful seeing these guys push soul music forward with their second LP!

Ghost Funk Orchestra: Walk Like A Motherfucker / Isaac Hayes

Ghost Funk Orchestra are a mystery. Plain and simple. Dirty, soulful production, verbed and fuzzed out guitars, mysterious vocals that feel like a lost score to a Quentin Tarantino film. The brainchild of one-man producer/musician/arranger Seth Applebaum, GFO is forging new territory and blurring the line between soul and psychedelic.

Both sides features members of SFSE, but the A is graced by none other than west coast funk legend Mixmaster Wolf (Breakestra) and man is it a deadly combo! Jr. Thomas & The Volcanos: Rockstone

Jr. Thomas & The Volcanos' sophomore effort Rockstone is more than just a love letter to the roots of Jamaican music. It's an actual love letter. Tom McDowall aka Jr. Thomas explains, "I could write a musical love letter to all things I loved: my wife, my family, my friends, my band mates. I could write a song to tell me to Chin Up when times got tough. I could give gratitude to the Jamaican artists that paved the way for the beautiful music we now call reggae. I could write a song about what it's like to lose someone important to you. Or write a song to invigorate me spiritually. Music is healing and that's the best therapy there is for me." Rockstone isn’t just another throwback record to an era gone by. It's a record that takes risks within the genre, but more importantly it's a genuinely honest record. "I called the album Rockstone because true love cannot be defeated. It lives forever. We write tributes on our tombstones because they live on beyond our lives as a remembrance of something special and important to us."

Kelly Finnigan: The Tales People Tell

Kelly Finnigan's debut solo album for Colemine Records represents the culmination of his 15 years of experience - in the studio as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, engineer, producer - and touring the US and Europe as a singer, musician, and band-leader. The content within reflects his dedication to expression through the rich American music traditions of soul, gospel, doo-wop, and R&B. The subject is love. Its ecstasies and heartaches. Love sought, found, betrayed, lost, and rediscovered. The result is a marvelous collection of songs and performances that run the gamut from whispering tenderness to roaring appeals; from lean and mean to lush and lovely. And always…always, manifestly honest, and undeniably soulful. With Finnigan guiding these songs from their conception all the way to the record pressing plant, the new release provides the singular voice missing from soul music: a visionary that writes, records, performs and produces his own material.
